the gun looks more crisp that i remember it. *i might be seeing things but I think 81.85 drivers have sharpened textures. Here his head and neck cast a shadow onto his chest, his shoulders also cast a shadow on his body. I cant believe they didnt correct these small glitches and and include SS in Q4. what sucks is the same thing happened in Doom 3. If anyone wants to beat me to it, they are welcome to. If I have the time or the patience, I might show some screencaps later. My god, we are really close to some amazing effects here. It is incredibly satisfying to see characters lined up with a light source to the side, and watch as the shadows from their guns fall on them and the their shadows cascade onto eachother. Characters cast shadows on themselves and eachother. I must say, however, that the few small graphical glitches are really annoying because the self shadowing LOOKS INCREDIBLE otherwise. That is why certain parts of the shadows look patchy. It casts shadows based on the polygons of a model, whereas the major details that we see are based off of bumpmapped textures that were rendered using much higher poly source material. There is an inherent flaw in the way it renders self shadows that may turn some people off.
